[Saipan, CNMI] – The Joeten-Kiyu Public Library will close early on Saturday, April 12, 2025, at 1:30 p.m. in preparation for our 4th Annual 5K Fun Run/Walk in collaboration with Run Saipan. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and appreciate your understanding.

The 5K event will take place at Garapan Fishing Base and is set to begin at 5:00 p.m. We encourage the community to join us for a fun-filled, healthy event that promotes fitness and togetherness.

EVENT DETAILS: Online registration through www.raceroster.com is required. Search: joeten-kiyu or visit the www.cnmilib.org for more details. The event will be free for children 12 years old and below. $5.00 for participants 13 years old to 18 years old. $10.00 for participants 19 years old and above. Please note, there will be a $2.69 per processing fee per participants 13 years old and above from race roster. All proceeds will towards the Summer Reading Program for the Joeten-Kiyu Public Library, Fernando M. Benavente Memorial Library, Bookmobile, Tinian Public Library, and the Antonio C. Atalig Memorial Library on Rota. There will be no refunds. All children must be accompanied by an adult. We look forward to seeing you there! [Saipan, MP] – Lace up your running/walking shoes and wear your best literary character costume for a great cause!  Celebrate School Library Month and National Library Week by signing up for the 4th Annual Friends of the Joeten-Kiyu Public Library 5K Fun Run/Walk on Saturday, April 12, 2025.  Run will start at 5:00 p.m. beginning at the Garapan Public Market back parking lot located at Fishing Base in Garapan, Saipan then turning around at the Quarter Master Road and returning to finish at the Garapan Public Market. As an added bonus for our runners/walkers, the CNMI Department of Fire and Emergency Medical Services’ (DFEMS) very own mascot Sparky will be present to cheer you on your run/walk, and be prepared for a cool down spray from DFEMS! Woohoo!

All proceeds received from the Fun Run/Walk will go to the Joeten-Kiyu Public Library’s 2025 Collaborative Summer Library Program (CSLP) for Saipan, Tinian, and Rota, ensuring that children in our community have access to great books and educational activities.

All minor participants of the 5K must be accompanied by a participating parent/guardian of the race/walk. Library card holders preferred.

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, adults who achieve at least 150 minutes a week of moderate-intensity aerobic activity can lower their risk for diseases such as high blood pressure, high cholesterol, type 2 diabetes and certain types of cancers. These risks continue to decrease with more physical activity. Which is an even better reason to promote health literacy by signing up for the Friends of the JKPL 5K Fun Run/Walk!

In addition to the fun, an auction for BIB#001 will take place before the Run/Walk! We hope to see you there!
