About National Library Week
Did you know that the first National Library Week was observed in 1958 with the theme “Wake Up and Read!” The 2025 celebration marks the 67th anniversary of the first event. Award-winning author and illustrator Raina Telgemeier and cartoonist and comic theorist Scott McCloud have been selected as National Library Week 2025 Honorary Chairs of the American Library Association. Their partnership produced “The Cartoonists Club” which is a Scholastic’s Graphix imprint. Scholastic’s Graphix imprints are where the most popular graphic novels and the most talented creators are published. So, congratulations Raina and Scott for receiving such an amazing honor!
The Joeten-Kiyu Public Library invites all community members to participate in these events and learn more about the resources available at the library. Whether you are looking for educational programs, resources for personal development, or just a place to connect with others, your local library is here to support you!
